Do not waist your time

"This place could use a good cleaning. We thought that this restaurant would be great given the long wait time. The food was awful and the staff was beyond rude. There are much better places to eat on the cape."

"This has been a favorite of ours since they opened. We have relatives that come to stay so they can eat there one last time before they close for the season in Oct. The food is ALWAYS good. The service is usually great. I love sitting near the windows and watching Patience & Prudence along with the other ferries and boats come in & out of the harbor. So great food, fab views... a must go."

"I've eaten at Spanky's about a dozen times, and here are some observations. The food is decent but overpriced and the portions are just adequate. The service ranges from ok (the wait staff) to terrible (bar staff). If you are not one of a dozen regulars at the bar, good luck getting a drink!"

Good food, so-so service.

Cons: Service very slow and unresponsive
"I have to say, I do love the food here. My only problem is that the service is often slow and the servers can be unresponsive. I love the fish cakes with baked beans; I ask for mayo with my beans every time (I know; it's a quirk!) and every time I have to wait for it. I also have to wait for drink refills. The last time I was there, there was a very loud bus group in the dining room (one guy actually stood up and made a number of announcements!) and the waitstaff basically disappeared, so we couldn't even ask them to address the situation. Irritating, to say the least."

spankys clam shack

"I absolutely LOVE Spankys, we are locals and go to Spankys once a week, sometimes more often when we have company in the summer months. Always worth the wait the food has always been fresh and hot. We enjoy the lobster salad it is fabulous with a very generous portion of lobster, and the fried clams are mouth watering. The steamers are the best by far, very clean and tasty. The wait staff is very friendly and a lot of fun."

"Had been a patron for many years and disappointed to see the prices climbing and the service deteriorating.
Had lunch on Sat over the long weekend. I was very sick before I arrived home and my husband was sick about an hour later. Called to advise them of the problem,as an FYI, and the manager told me I must have eaten something after leaving there and was lying that I got food poisoning from their establishment. Nothing like being insulted when you are trying to help. "

The best location, with great food

Good food, great location
Pros: The view of the harbor is hard to beat.
Cons: It's a popular spot, so you might have to wait ... but it's worth it!
"Spankys is a classic Cape clam shack. Fried seafood is always fresh and even the burgers are cooked to perfection (nothing like the overcooked stuff you get at the chains). Of course, the view is hard to beat ... you can watch the hustle and bustle along Hyannis harbor while you wait for your table or wait for your food. "

"I've never been disappointed in a food order from Spanky's. The portions are good and the fried seafood dishes (my personal preference)are always delicious. And you can't beat Spanky's outdoor area overlooking Hyannis harbor on a nice day!"
