Muddy Steamed Calms

Cons: Muddy Steamers!

"We ate at the Tiki Bar on Sunday, 8-29. Sully was very good but kept saying he was sorry for all the delays. Don't get the steamers, they were full of mud and cold. My broth turned competely black! $13.00 for about 12 steamers was ridiculous as well!"

Bill Increase without warning / Poor Customer Service

"My friend and I ordered a meal that in the menu was one price. When our bill came it was higher than what was advertised. When I questioned the waitress, she shrugged me off without an apology or explanation and said, we are adding $x. I pointed out that this was false advertising and unethical. Rather than embarrass my friend I left - but called the manager later that day who put me on hold, came back said he was busy. I gave him my number and he never called me back. "

Yuck!

Pros: Ummm...the water's pretty?

Cons: Every excruciating moment

"Not even a little bit good...bad food, slow service, lackluster atmosphere. I felt like I was in a nursing home eating cafeteria food only at 5 star prices. Now I remember why I stopped going here. Never ever again."

Best seafood ever

"We were there for Mother's Day and the food was fantastic as always and the services was excellent even with the restaurant being packed. We go there every time we are back in the area. I have never found a better place for Fried clams and New England Clam Chowder."

Aggravating birthday dinner

Pros: great food!

Cons: Understaffed in the bar area

"Last Sunday a friend and I went to Davy's to celebrate her birthday.
we went to the bar and asked if we could be served there. The bartender assured us that we could. Unfortunately, the restaurant was crowded and he was working alone. We finished our drinks and asked if we could order. He told us we would have to wait for 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we managed to get his attention, and asked again to order. He told us he didn't have time to take any orders to the kitchen! I finally went to the hostess and asked her to send a waitress into the bar area to take our order. She arrived quickly and we were soon served a great meal!
Unfortunately, the experience in the bar dampened the birthday celebration. Davy's needs more help behind the bar. "

Excellent food!

Pros: Hot, fresh food

Cons: Off the beaten path

"Probably the hottest and freshest seafood we've had in years. Only problem is that the location is a bit out of the way... though it's on the ocean. We had fish and chips, scallops, and steak tips. Not one complaint, even the steak was outstanding. Next time we are in town Davy's is a definite stop."

Probably the freshest seafood I've had

"We went to Davy's Locker last week and could not believe how fresh the seafood was. I had the fried cod (fish n chips) and my cousin had the scallops. Hot and fresh. Service was fine. We would go back there in a heartbeat."

waiter more interested in talking to his freinds

"sat and waited for 15 minutes for some one to seat us on a saturday night. its expected for a saturday night, but the service is really sloooooow. it took the waiter 35 minutes to take our order. then another 25 minutes to serve us!!!!!!!!!!!! wich by the way there fried clams were like eating sand,french fries were cold, soggy,prices aint all that cheap,waiters ought to be repramanded for being so slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not paying attention to the customer."

Pros: well...you can see the water

"The mediocre food was overpriced. The dining room could really use a good cleaning and remodel. The service was lazy and blah. The most insulting thing was that they charge for refills on soda. How cheesy."

chese cake factory

Pros: the selection in the menu

Cons: too crowded

"wow i went to davy's locker today and had an excellent lunch. i can't believe how good my fish cakes and chowder was. my swordfish scampi was to die for and the best part was the cheese cakes wow what an amazing selection i taught i was at the cheese cake factory. davy's keep up the great work i will definitely be back."

Pleasantly suprised

Pros: Located right on the Atlantic Ocean

Cons: Prime rib is grilled if you don't tell the server you like it otherwise

"Excellent chowder! I had the seafood platter with the freshest scallops and cod I've tasted in years. My cousin said his lazymans lobster/sirloin steak combo was out of this world. Everyone else was happy. Only complaint was prime rib is grilled over a fire if you don't tell the waiter not to."

Best All Around Food

Pros: Kids 11 and under eat for free.

Cons: Not near the mall.

"Ate at Davy's last week with a party of 8. We had everything from sirloin steak and tenderloin tips to the fish n chips and broiled scallops. Incredible. Haven't been there in years but will be back soon. "

Desperately Needs Refreshing

Pros: Davy's still does a decent job of service good seafood

Cons: Shut down for 10 weeks and gut the place!

"While the seafood still holds it's own, the interior is in dire need of a remodel. Smelly and 1980's, pretty much sums up the facility. It is no longer the premiere seafood destination in New Bedford, that it once was."

Not the Davy's I remember

Pros: Kids eat free

"I have been going to Davy's since I was a teenager... every Friday night. We left the area but have sense moved back... We couldn't wait to get to Davy's... We have gone 4 times since coming home, and each time we have been disappointed. I think it is fine for lunch, but for dinner, unless you are getting fried food, the quality of the food has slipped. The service is slow and my meal was cold when it arrived. We will continue to go, but we will not be going every week any longer. Too many good places have come up. "

Dav'y time has gone

"The ambiance is wonderful but in truth the food is wayo over-priced. In the area there are many "hole-in-the -wall places that might not have the atmosphere, but the food is better and far cheaper. I'd avoid unless you're looking to impress out of town visitors."

A Good Time

"We dined at Davy's on June 26th. It was a great experience. We had a excellent waitress, the food was wonderful, and we left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. It's a great seafood place. The fried clams are to die for, however they do great things with steak and chicken too. And you can eat out side in a covered area if you like. Since it's on the water this is a nice feature. I recommend this restaurant highly. We have been many times and have never been dissatisfied. Also, the bathroom is quite interesting, there are fishtanks where the windows were. Check it out!"

"I went to Davy's Locker this past weekend for lunch. I couldn't believe how many shrimp dishes they had available called "SHRIMPMANIA MENU". I had the Coconut Shrimp it was excellent and the portions for lunch are plentiful. I also had there fish chowder which was also delightful. I will be going there many more times with my family.

"i went to davy's locker today for lunch and i ordered the shrimp mozambique and it was simply the best i've tasted.and the rice pudding was a winner also..and the price was very reasonable.davy's locker by far is the best restaurant in the city of new bedford.... "

The best seafood restaurant in the city......

"i lived in new bedford all my life, i've been dining at davy's locker for over 25 years. and what keeps me and my family going back time and time again is the freshest food i've ever tasted they seem to get better with time. and the atmosphere is simply marvelous.and the service is second to none, i recommend davy's locker to anyone. try it you will be happy you did.... Still Great After All These Years

Pros: Consistently great food with a fantastic view

"Been going to Davy's Locker since the late 1970's and the food has never been better.We come down all the way from Quincy at least six times a year just for the Grand Marnier salmon.Simply the best salmon dish we have ever eaten anywhere."

Time has passed

Pros: Location, view.

Cons: Poor quality, slow service

"Davy's locker's time has come and gone. Once one of the city's jewels, the last 3 times we have dined there, there service has been slow, the food average to poor, often undercooked and/or cold, and overpriced. We are fortunate to have so many dining options in this area, Davey's, sadly, is now one to skip."
